I er…just awkwardly realised that I missed Leon’s birthday (11/3) and Halloween (per this chapter). Oops…

Chapter 2: Similar types acting in collusion

Clatter!

Just as the situation seemed like someone was on the verge of dying a tragic death to end up in the Underworld, the classroom door was suddenly opened. Resounding footsteps could be heard, followed by a loud, ear-piercing shout.

“Don’t stir up trouble where I can see! I don’t have the patience to deal with it.”

Everyone turned around to see a tall and pink figure appear at the door.

It was a woman, a ridiculously overdressed woman.

The tall figure wore a wine-red crop top, and tight, leather shorts extended out below on those long, fish-netted legs in addition to a pair of extremely slender black boots fitted on her feet. A cape of dark purple feathers wrapped around her shoulders, and she had long hair dyed five different colours tied up into a high ponytail behind her head. The make-up on her face was exceptionally garish, giving off a wild type of gorgeous and flirtatious air.

The woman coldly glanced at Fu Xing’s direction before walking up to the large rectangular table by herself. The black-haired male let out a quiet scoff, and the harsh atmosphere enveloping them instantly vanished.

Thank heavens! Looks like the danger’s gone. Fu Xing stood up and shot a look at the black-haired male. Although he really wanted to give an explanation to the other person, it was not appropriate in the current situation. Thus, he simply gave a nod of apology before running back to Zhu Yue’s side.

“I am your advisor, Grod Abram, a lich.” The woman pulled off a gorgeous fur bag from her shoulders and tossed it onto the table before sitting on the edge of the table. “I’m in charge of you all before graduation. It’s best you stay cooperative. Don’t cause any trouble for me, and don’t do anything to offend me.”

“Or else?” Brad provocatively questioned.

She turned towards Brad to look at him. “Werewolf Brad Albert, is it?”

Brad nodded.

Grod’s scarlet lips tilted upwards as she reached out to pat the bag on the table. “Would you like to become my new purse?”

Brad was momentarily stunned, then furrowed his brows. However, he did not dare to openly rebel either.

Grod grabbed her purse and took out a dark-blue flannel bag. “Shalom accepts various races, even some that are hostile towards each other. So this place has certain rules and principles that must be complied to.”

She pulled the bag open and muttered something. Then, a string of small gold rings flew out from the bag by themselves to float in mid-air. She snapped her fingers and the small gold rings automatically sailed through the classroom to every person present.

“This is a contract ring that includes restriction and identification enchantments. As long as you stay in this academy, every student must wear one. You can wear it on whatever finger you’d like. The rings will automatically adjust themselves to the proper size.”

Upon hearing this, everyone took the rings and put them on their fingers. There weren’t any ornaments or images on the thin gold bands, just some notches of varying thickness around the outside portion.

Fu Xing wore the ring on his left pinky finger, hoping it could protect his measly life.

Enchantments…so magical. He wanted to learn cool enchantments like these rather than only be able to strip people’s clothing.

“Shalom naturally places heavy importance on students’ performance, as it is a school, after all. Starting from six years ago, the school adopted a credits system. As long as one shows outstanding results in various aspects, credits can be gained in exchange. Conversely, credits can be deducted. Rewards and penalties will be given according to the accumulated credits at the end of every semester. If you would like to know the number you have accumulated, there are checking stations set up in every school building and dorm. You just need to scan the mark on your finger to get the information.”

That’s way too convenient! “Is that also an enchantment?” Fu Xing couldn’t help but ask.

“No, it just responds to a barcode. This is a human technology that was introduced by a certain outstanding student before they graduated, and it has been extremely effective.” Grod looked at Fu Xing and gave him a meaningful smile. “That student’s name was He Fu Qing. You should know her, shouldn’t you, He Fu Xing?”

What?! It’s Sis! “Ah, I do.”

For a moment, everyone’s gazes landed on him. Fu Xing scratched his head as he returned everyone’s looks with a foolish grin.

“While Shalom was established to let special animate beings integrate into human society, it was more importantly to…” Grod paused for a moment before solemnly continuing, “Let the sparse number of special animate beings survive while being hunted by the sanctifiers—also commonly referred to as White Triangle.”

Fu Xing stared blankly. While the terms “White Triangle” and “sanctifiers” were foreign to him, he could deduce from Grod’s tone that these people were the archnemesis of special animate beings.

Being hunted? Is it that serious? From what he could remember, his family had always been very relaxed, with nothing like the tension of “being hunted”. It’s probably more common in the West. The witch hunts were historically also done in the West.

“Hence, in order to temper newcomers, there will be a random number of un-scheduled trials given to new students starting from next Monday up until Halloween on October 31st,” Grod lazily said. Her lips then curled up into a dark smile, “This activity has another name: ‘New Student Hunt’.”

The class students were all dumbstruck for a second. Then, uneasy whispers erupted.

“In this one-and-a-half month period, every person in the school, teachers and students alike, are able to give new students tasks authorised by the school. The new students must complete the task within the set time period, or else they will receive an equivalent punishment. Don’t worry, the tasks will not be too difficult. You can just treat it as doing odd jobs.”

“So this activity will end on the day of Halloween?” One of the students asked.

“Mm, yeah, basically. The reason is because on the day of Halloween, this will be an even larger ‘game’ waiting for new students.”

“Game?”

Grod smirked. “Since it’s Halloween, it’s only natural to hold a test of courage in accordance with the holiday.”

“Test of courage?” Werewolves, darkbloods, and fairies to attend a test of courage? “Are we scaring others or being scared?”

“Both. However, it’s not just scaring others. Shalom’s test of courage will be a bit more ‘interesting’.” Grod stood up and walked towards the blackboard.

“Each class is split into two groups: a garrison group and an execution group. On the day of the event, the garrison group will stay behind to control a checkpoint while the execution group will advance through the other [checkpoints]. Each class will set up their own checkpoint. Aside from having to scare others, the checkpoints must also have a way to delay the time it takes for the opponents to advance. Moderate fighting is allowed. This test is similar to an overall evaluation after being in school for one-and-a-half months, covering witchcraft, special abilities, and human sociology. The things taught in these classes must be implemented in the checkpoint to earn points.”

After writing a few critical terms on the blackboard, Grod continued to explain, “The checkpoints are designed together by the students. The more creative it is, the higher the score. There are no limitations on the theme or presentation style.”

Grod wrote down the main points on the blackboard. “As for the execution group advancing forwards, you don’t need to demonstrate courage while passing through other class’ checkpoints. Rather, you must respond to the other class’ ‘scary parts’ with appropriate human responses.”

“Appropriate human responses?”

“The test of courage isn’t truly meant to test your bravery, but rather to test if you are able to respond like a normal human. You must ‘be scared’. There are video cameras set up along the entire way. The execution groups’ reactions are one of the main aspects to be scored. The more realistic the act, the more awarded points. The class with the highest score will be rewarded.”

“Since it’s a game, why give scores?” A blonde girl complained unhappily.

“Game [here] is just a figure of speech. In essence, this event is a portion of exams.”

Fu Xing nodded with an expression of understanding He knew what this type of situation was. In the past, his teachers would often arrange these kinds of games back in Taiwan as well, claiming it was for happy learning and multi-aspect evaluations while setting up a bunch of stage plays or group competitions. They truly thought that sugar-coating the cruel grades in a flashy and attractive way would reduce the students’ pressure.

It was said that when this common practice first arrived at Shalom several years ago, the students had not responded very warmly. Instead, it was the depressed teaching staff that seized this opportunity for quite a bit of amusement. It was during this time every year that Shalom’s teachers seemed to be celebrating the fact that they could watch comedic moments without end every day.

Of course, the students did not know about this part.

“The activity’s route starts from the library at the campus’s southernmost end. It passes through the main road to end at the Forbidden Tower on the northmost end. Each class’s respective area will be announced one week in advance.” Grod tossed the chalk back into the grooves as she turned her head around to look at the students. “That’s it. Any questions?”

There was no sound in the classroom; it was completely silent. It wasn’t that they had no questions, but that they had too many questions and did not know how to ask.

“In that case, let’s choose a class representative next. Does anyone volunteer or want to recommend someone? Why don’t we decide by vote?”

The only response she received was silent.

“None at all? Great. Honestly speaking, I don’t really like this method either. In my opinion, the class representative is just a certain unfortunate victim that everyone ambitiously frames.”

Mhm, that’s completely right. Fu Xing nodded as he inwardly agreed.

Grod chuckled, and her gaze swept across the classroom to look for the unfortunate victim that was about to take on the position.

Fu Xing saw her eyes pass over Brad and the black-haired male from earlier, and he couldn’t help but snigger to himself.

Ooo, looks like the bad children will get punished. I hope that this will teach them to be obedient and to stop stirring up trouble—

“The person that caused trouble in Professor Ned’s class earlier, who – was – it~?” Grod asked in a sing-song voice while elongating each word in the question.

Fu Xing abruptly stiffened. The next moment, the entire class’s attentions once again gathered on him.

“Oho, so it was you.” Grod slowly walked up to Fu Xing and reached a hand out to pat his face. “Ahaha, you look so weak and innocent, who would’ve imagined you to have such strong preferences? Not even willing to let Professor Ned go?”

“That was an accident…” He had absolutely no lustful intentions towards middle-aged males!

“Even if it was an accident, inciting such a disturbance is quite astounding.” Grod maintained her smile while saying, “In any case, you can be the class representative.”

“But I don’t—”

Grod’s beautiful eyes narrowed as she spoke in the low, imposing tone of a queen. “Disobeying me?”

He Fu Xing took a sharp breath and then agreed, “I wouldn’t dare…”

Only death awaited those who rebelled against the queen’s command.

Like this, the final verdict was declared.

After class ended on Friday, He Fu Xing returned to the dorm.

Although being forced to accept the task of a class representative made him feel pushed to do something beyond his ability, he was also a bit excited.

Fu Xing walked through the door labelled ‘305’. The [dorm] room was quite spacious. As soon as one opened the door, they would be faced with the living room containing a wooden table and four European-style chairs. The living room was connected to the bathroom. Further into the dorm room were beds set up against the left and right sides, each one also having a desk and cabinet inlaid into the walls.

There was a wall between the two beds, splitting it into two small rooms. While one could see the layout of the entire room from the living room, this wall still created some individual private space.

When he had arrived, he had been the only person in the dorm room. He liked the feeling of waking up under the sunlight early in the morning, so he had chosen the bed next to the window.

Completely unlike a bat spirit, right?

As Fu Xing walked towards the bed, he discovered that the room had changed a bit. There was a pile of three suitcases in the corner of the room where the inner bed was, as well as scattered books and documents laid out on the desk.

His roommate had moved in?

Fu Xing excitedly stood outside the bed area and stuck his head in to look around.

Nobody’s here…Hm, probably went to go eat dinner.

Ahhh, I’m really curious about what kind of person they are! He had never lived with strangers before!

With boundless fantasies about a roommate, Fu Xing happily sprawled across his own bed. He flipped through the new textbook he had received, waiting for the other person to appear.

However, he still ended up sleeping alone that night. He also spent the next two days of break alone in the dorm room.

Where did they run off to, and what are they doing?

Fu Xing lay in bed pondering over this but was unable to come up with an explanation.

Hurry up and come back, I’m so bored….

Shalom’s academic program used a free-selection system for classes. Aside from some critical courses regarding special animate beings that had to be taken, all other courses were taken by choice.

Fu Xing’s Monday class started at ten in the morning. Common courses, especially those unrelated to special abilities, were chosen by few people, never more than thirty. Due to the traits of certain races, there was not much activity around the campus during the daytime; the grounds were quite desolate. But when evening came for the necessary classes, the entire school would start to bustle with liveliness.

The classroom for “Introduction and Application of Special Abilities” was quite large, about the size of two basketball courts. There were no furnishings inside the empty room, just long seating lined up against the wall and two mobile blackboards.

When Fu Xing arrived, quite a few people had already gathered inside. They were all faces from the “Basic Witchcraft” class.

“Apparently the professor for this class isn’t to be trifled with.” A golden-haired youth with pointed ears and emerald-green eyes whispered to Fu Xing.

“Really?” Fu Xing quietly replied.

The blonde youth was an elf from his class, Emerald, who was also taking middle-level mathematics with Fu Xing.

Back then.

Emerald carried a thick and heavy bag on his back and opened it up as soon as he entered the classroom to peddle items with everyone inside.

“Would you like a soulstone from the elves’ holy land?” Emerald took out a black-specked stone, a flattering expression on his face as he asked Fu Xing, “Or how about fur from a mountain boar? Or a squirrel’s front teeth? A horn? Don’t worry, these were all sliced off from bodies that died naturally. No need to be concerned about being poisoned by malicious spirits.”

Fu Xing blankly stared at the other person.

Emerald possessed an elegant and refined manner paired with the delicate facial features of an elf. Yet his actions were like that of a middle-aged uncle standing in front of an elementary school entrance to sell silkworms and dyed mice to the young students.

“What’s a soulstone do?” Fu Xing curiously studied the stone.

“Soulstones carry the spiritual influence of the holy land and helps the body if you wear it.”

“Really?”

“That’s what I believe,” Emerald responded naturally.

You can’t just randomly confirm things as you please! “It doesn’t seem reliable at all…”

“But this really isn’t an ordinary stone. The clan elder said before that everything in the holy land carries spiritual influence, so it was have some type of benefit if you bring it around with you.”

“Is that so.” Probably like a lucky crystal or safety amulet; not effective in use, but purely carried for ease of heart. “How much is one?”

“One euro.”

“Eh, I haven’t received the scholarship money from the school yet. I only have NT on me right now.”

“That’s not a problem.” Emerald grinned and smoothly pulled out an iPhone from his pocket and pressed a few buttons. “The exchange rate for euros to Taiwan dollars is currently 1:42.84. If you want to buy it, you can just go with 42 NT.”

“Wow, how professional!” Fu Xing sighed in admiration as he stared at the iPhone in Emerald’s hands. “Isn’t that model really expensive?”

Emerald raised his brows. “199 euros. It’s been used for seven months. If you want to buy it, I can sell it to you at a discount of 80%.” He paused for a moment. “With a soulstone added on for free.”

“Ah, no need.” What an unpresentable freebie, like receiving an air refresher while buying a car. It held no sincerity at all. “I’ll just buy a soulsone.” Although the stone seemed very ordinary, it wouldn’t hurt to buy one if the elder of elves had ascertained it had spiritual influence.

Fu Xing took out his wallet covered with strange magnet markings (incidentally, this was an ‘IR magnet pressure relief wallet’ purchased on TV that apparently boosted kidney function when placed in a pocket near the hips). He removed 42 NT and passed it to Emerald.

“Thank you for your patronage.” Emerald smiled as he accepted the money before openly setting down the stone in front of Fu Xing. “Now it’s yours.”

Fu Xing was stunned. “You just sell it like that?” Isn’t that too casual?!

“Yeah, is there something wrong?”

“You don’t package it? At least wrap a ribbon around it to improve the atmosphere.”

“Why go through so much trouble?”

Fu Xing eyed Emerald and suspiciously asked, “How many items have you sold to date?”

“Mmm, honestly speaking, you’re the first customer. Shalom’s students are on the pettier side. Selling online for human clients to buy is much more straightforward, although a few nasty people request for returns afterwards…” Emerald softly cursed in what seemed to be a special word in elven language.

“As expected…”

Emerald arched a brow. “Do you have any suggestions?”

“I think you should package your merchandise and use some antics to attract customers.” Fu Xing thought back to the experience he had from seeing TV advertisements and strolling through markets. “It’s best if you add a complimentary item and discount in addition to some kind of slogan and logo. For example, a free snack for every soulstone bought.” Fu Xing scratched his head. “That should make it easier to sell.”

“You talk as if you understand this well.” Emerald took the stone and sat next to Fu Xing as he asked curiously, “You seem to be very familiar with human marketing methods?”

“I spent my past eighteen years living in a human society.” I guess it would count as familiar compared to an elf living deep in the mountain forests.

“Is that so…”

Although Emerald’s expression seemed like one of disapproval, he still asked questions non-stop, inquiring for Fu Xing’s opinions and plainly regarding him as a marketing consultant.

Soon after, Emerald fell silent in contemplation for a moment before saying, “Alright, if I start a company in the future, I might come ask you for a collaboration.” His manner was dignified like an owner expressing favour.

“Thanks…” While Fu Xing had no interest in Emerald’s enterprise, he found Emerald’s actions quite novel.

His impression of elves was that they were noble, virtuous, and refined, not eating the food of common mortals. In comparison, Emerald seemed too materialistic.

However, it was because he was materialistic that he was easy to interact with.

Back to the present.

The class bell rang, and the professors for “Theory and Application of Special Abilities” walked in one after another. There was a total of six teachers, including Grod and Professor Minas, who Fu Xing had just met in mathematics in the morning.

An Asian man clothed in black walked to the centre [of the room] with a stiff face. His hair was neatly plastered back, as if he had used an entire jar of grease. He wore a pair of frameless glasses, the single-eyelids behind the frames giving off a blade-like sharpness. When he arrived at the middle, his cold eyes swept across the entire classroom. All the previous clamour quieted down with that stern gaze.

“I am the main professor for this class, Samukawa. The other five are assistant professors. I’ll skip over the greetings. If you hope to suffer less, you should try your best to overcome your own incompetence.”

When the simple and strict opening remarks ended, they cut straight to the formal lesson. “The main subject of today’s class is transformation. Although everyone is currently maintaining human forms, you must become more well-practiced in the process of transformation, able to change in the fastest possible time. Like this.”

As soon as he finished speaking, two dark shadows immediately sprouted from Samukawa’s back, slowly unfurling to form a pair of jet-black wings.

“Wow!” Quite a few students cried out in astonishment.

Samukawa extended the wings slightly before retracting them back in. The next moment, the two shadows curled behind his back and vanished behind him.

“That was a partial transformation. Not every person can achieve this. It is extremely advantageous to be proficient in transformation during dangerous situations, whether it’s for fleeing or for attacking. In addition, this is a good method to practice controlling your natural ability.”

According to Samukawa, beastmen were humans that possessed the ability to transform into beasts. These were the products of a contract made between the shamans and natural spirits during ancient times. Werewolves, wereleopards, and a majority of shapeshifting humans from the West fell into this category.

Jingguai comprised of races that were animals with spiritual power, that could change into human form through cultivation.

Yaoling comprised of the fairy and elf races.

Jiaoren were cultivated from serpents and dragons, falling into the category of jingguai. This was unlike the originally half-human, half-fish mermaids.

Jingmei were races excluded from the ancient contract and had not changed through means of cultivation. From the beginning of their creation, they had already possessed unique magic power. Darkbloods and other creatures from legends and myths fell into this category. Though jingmei and yaoling had the same form, their attributes and abilities were vastly different, and were therefore split into different types.

Samukawa taught very quickly, and Fu Xing’s writing speed could not keep up at all. Thus, he simply pulled out his cellphone to directly record as he smoothly continued to listen.

Laziness stemming from always relying on science and technology, hahaha.

After Samukawa explained the common main points, he then began to explain the source of other abilities and their manipulation methods for each race. The students sitting below began to practice as they listened.

“You can find someone from a different race to practice together. If you can see the other person’s special ability, that means you’re stronger than them, and your chances of dying in a fight against a different race drops by half.” Samukawa stared hard at the students as he said this.

One could tell from Samukawa’s tone that he was clearly the type of person that viewed his beloved teachings as a joke.

Fu Xing found a corner and began to practice together with Emerald. He followed the main points that Samukawa had just gone over, trying to gather his focus and mentally recall his original, non-human form.

And then, when Emerald had already materialised wings three times and even changed his hair colour from pale blonde to dark brown, Fu Xing still had not gotten any response.

“Old friend, are you alright?” Emerald suspiciously stared at Fu Xing. “Are you really a jingguai?”

“I only just found out I was a jingguai last month; I thought I was a human the entire time before then. I’ve never transformed before.”

“You’re joking, right?”

Fu Xing sighed and closed his eyes. Just as he preparing to try again, someone tugged at his sleeve.

He turned his head around to see a young male with dark brown hair standing behind him—To be more accurate, it was an “extremely handsome” male standing behind him. He recognised this person; it was his classmate, Rocort.

Rocort had a smile on his face, his thin lips tilted upward. That pair of deep, dark blue eyes underneath those double eyelids gave off an uneasy, bad boy feeling.

Fu Xing had never been to a club before, but this guy seemed like someone that often went messing around in clubs, a fierce character that all girls would fight over to treat him to a drink.

“I’m Rocort,” the other person said with a smile. His magnetic voice was very pleasant to the ear.

“Oh, I’m He Fu Xing. Is something the matter?”

Rocort pointed at the bag Fu Xing had placed next to his feet. “Are there biscuits inside that?”

Fu Xing was dumbstruck. “Ah?”

Is this the latest trend for how to strike up a conversation in Europe? Young miss, do you have biscuits in your bag? Let’s enjoy them together? Is that the meaning?

“Candy is fine too.” Rocort’s eyes were filled with anticipation.

Despite finding this bizarre, Fu Xing earnestly replied, “Rather than biscuits, I remember that the peanuts given on the airplane are still in my bag…” He bent down to pull out a palm-sized vacuum-tight bag from the bottom-most layer of his backpack. “Is that okay?”

“Thanks!”

“Slow down!” Emerald stood between the two and whispered to Fu Xing, “How much does that cost?”

“Doesn’t make a difference, it’s a freebie.”

“Not earning money when you can?”

“I’m not poor to that stage!” Fu Xing shot Emerald an annoyed look before passing the object to Rocort.

Rocort happily accepted and impatiently tore it open to pick out the peanuts and eat.

A few girls around them were sneaking glances over in their direction, their eyes glittering with a thirsty light. However, what they lusted after was not the peanuts.

Fu Xing stared at Rocort in astonishment. That bag of peanuts that even his old man wouldn’t be interested in was eaten by Rocort with relish.

This guy must have been starving for a long time…Maybe he’s some child from a poor family in a remote area, and the money from his family’s entire year of wheat harvest was spent on his plane ticket here so that he could study at Shalom. It’s possible that his family is currently in a state of hunger and destitution, waiting anxiously for Rocort to send back the scholarship money to fill in for their family expenses…

“Um, where are you from?” Out of kindness, Fu Xing tried to chat with him. Emerald was muttering to himself nearby, discontent with Fu Xing giving something to Rocort for free.

“Ireland.”

“Oh, I’m from Taiwan. Have you been to Taiwan before?”

Rocort shook his head. He poured the final peanut from the plastic bag into his palm, staring at it longingly for a moment before tossing it into his mouth.

Seeing this, Fu Xing immediately asked warmheartedly, “Still want some? I have a few more snacks.” To express his friendly intent, he pulled out a bag of dried cod strips from his backpack.

“Is that also a freebie?” Emerald inquired as he looked at Fu Xing.

“It’s fine, don’t haggle so much.”

“I’m starting to regret collaborating with you. You’ll definitely squander away the company’s fortune.”

“Yeah right, your company is currently only a business in your mind.”

Rocort took the bag and curiously assessed it. “Are these noodles?”

“Nope, though there should be flour mixed into it.” He helped Rocort open the bag, and the faint scent of fish wafted out.

Rocort pulled out two pieces in wonder before sucking on one end in his mouth. After getting a taste of the flavour, an expression of pleasant surprise dawned on his face and he grabbed a huge handful to stuff them all into his mouth.

Those sexy lips that countless girls lusted after now had a beige-coloured fish strip hanging down from them, as if he was a shredder spitting out a piece of paper.

“Delicious! Thank you, He Fu Xing,” Rocort said sincerely, his smile completely innocent and not at all matching with his handsome and charming face.

“Then, Rocort, what race are you?”

“Fairy.”

“Oh?” He immediately thought of the pretty girl from the Basic Witchcraft class. “Have you retracted your transparent wings?”

“I don’t…have…right now.” Rocort responded as he chewed, then swallowed the food in his mouth. “My type is different.”

“I see.”

Rocort opened the plastic bag wide open, then tilted his head back to dump all the crumbs into his mouth. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and grinned at Fu Xing.

“It’s very tasty. Thanks. Ah, right!” Rocort seemed to recall something. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few pieces of Swiss candy. “I brought these out from the dining hall. You can have one.”

Fu Xing blankly accepted the candy. “Thanks.”

After chatting with Rocort in those few minutes, he discovered that the person’s outside seemed to be the complete opposite of their inside.

If this guy went on variety shows with “Super Friendly Hotties” and “Naturally Airheaded Hotties” as the themes, he would definitely dupe everyone.

Rocort turned towards Emerald. “You can have one too. How about a green-coloured one?”

Emerald was somewhat taken aback. “I didn’t give you anything.”

“It’s fine.”

Emerald hesitated for a moment, but just as he was about to accept the candy, a sinister voice sounded out from behind them.

“What are you doing over here?”

The three of them turned their heads to see a dark figure radiating a harsh aura standing upright behind them.

“Ah, Professor Samukawa…”

Samukawa’s brows knit together with his lips tightly pursed together, his facial muscles extremely taut. “I am quite surprised. You all seem to find this class very easy-going?”

“Oh, that’s not it—” Fu Xing and Emerald hurried to explain.

“Yep, that’s true. But you’re a bit noisy, it would be good if you were slightly quieter.” From an outsider’s point of view, Rocort’s blunt reply was simply a scene of a bad student provoking their teacher.

However, Rocort was purely stating his own thoughts.

“Rocort!” Ahhhh! What is this brat doing?! And here I thought he was a good kid, I hadn’t expected for him to be a spoiled brat walking the path of a rebel!

Rocort did not appear to notice anything strange. He leaned his face closer to stare straight into Samukawa’s ashen face. “Samukawa, your expression looks pretty ugly. Are you mad?”

“Please add the word ‘Professor’!”

“Don’t be mad, if you’re mad, then you’re not cute anymore.” Rocort reached a hand out to pat Samukawa’s face. “Give us a smile, Samukawa.”

Fu Xing internally muttered, With Samukawa’s face, he can’t become cute even if he wasn’t angry.

The devilishly charming male model was currently taking liberties with a cold-faced uncle. To an onlooker, this was a dubious and bizarre scene. Moreover, it was a scene that could make certain people feel weak with cold sweat and discomfort in their gut.

“Rocort, don’t be like that…” Emerald weakly spoke as if he had just swallowed an entire bag of soulstones. “I can’t bear to watch…”

The elf was extremely sensitive to beautiful things, and the scene in front of him clearly did not match his aesthetic views.

Samukawa’s eyes widened, his pale face flushing red. Naturally, this was absolutely not from shame. After all, no student had ever dared to treat him with such an attitude before.

“You impolite—”

“Ah, do you want to have a candy?” Rocort pulled out another Swiss candy from his pocket and opened it. “Your mood will improve after you eat it!”

Samukawa did not respond, instead stretching his palm out to gather a ball of bright, green light. The ball of light gradually grew larger, then was sent flying directly towards Rocort.

Ding, dang, dong! The class bell rang out. At the same time, a tall, wine-red figure flashed over to stand between the two in confrontation.

“It’s the end of class, Professor Samukawa,” Grod said with a chuckle. Her hand with scarlet-painted fingernails gripped Samukawa’s arm, suppressing the accumulated power for attack.

“These students offended me.” Samukawa angrily let out a low roar, “They must be punished!”

Grod raised a brow. “Offended [the great] Professor Samukawa?!” Cinnabar lips curled upwards. “Ah, I think this type of courage is worthy of praise instead.”

“What did you say?!”

“They’re my students, the next period is my class. I have to keep control of the students’ academic studies. If there are any problems, we can talk later.”

Grod shot a look at Fu Xing and the others. Fu Xing and Emerald hurriedly pulled the oblivious Rocort away to leave the scene.

Loud, vicious shouts of anger erupted from the classroom.

“Your chest is so narrow, what part of your entire body is big?!” This was Grod’s dainty reprimanding an octave higher.

“Shut up! You damn vulgar transvestite!” This was Samukawa’s roar of burning rage.

Transvestite?

Fu Xing was stunned as he looked towards Emerald. The latter only shrugged with a helpless expression that said, “That’s just how it is”.

This is really…too inconceivable…

For some reason, learning that their class advisor was male was even more of a shock to him than learning that his classmates were not human.

Ah, my system of values has started to become a mess.

“Rocort, you were seriously too impulsive just now.” Fu Xing spoke as they headed back to the dorms, the fear still lingering in his heart. “I though we would get murdered.”

“If you want to die, don’t drag others down with you. If something happens, I’ll definitely demand a medical fee from you,” Emerald solemnly vowed. “Though, you can just give me the money. I can heal my own wounds.”

Trapped between both people’s complaints, Rocort had a completely innocent expression on his face. “Did I do something wrong?”

Fu Xing and Emerald exchanged a glance with each other. “The way you spoke to Samukawa just now was wrong!”

“Where was it wrong?”

“You shouldn’t have said he was noisy.”

“You shouldn’t have directly called him by name.”

“Most importantly—” The two simultaneously chimed, “You shouldn’t have called him cute!”

Rocort scratched his head. “Does the issue lie with the word ‘cute’?”

“Eh, that’s about right.”

“I got it.” Rocort nodded. “I’ll improve next time.”

“Also, you need to watch your attitude a bit.” Emerald immediately grumbled, “I don’t want to watch a scene of a middle-aged man being taken liberties with. Regardless of whether it was because of your personal passion or because it was a provocation, please don’t do anything similar again.”

“Samukawa isn’t a middle-aged man.” Rocort smiled and said, “He’s pretty cute.”

Fu Xing stared blankly for a moment, then looked at Emerald. The two of them sighed.

This should be due to a different in aesthetic opinion, right? He started to fantasise about what Rocort’s future marriage partner would be like…

The image gradually took form in his mind. There was Rocort, threateningly handsome in a white suit. Next to his slim figure was a silhouette covered in white muslin, shyly holding Rocort’s hand. Then, the moment the white cloth was lifted, it revealed Samukawa’s eternal scowl…

Fu Xing shuddered, forcibly kicking the ominous scene out from his head.

“Forget it. In short, the next time you face Samukawa, just exercise some restraint,” Emerald grumpily ended the topic. The three of them entered the dorms and began to climb up the stairs.

“Fu Xing, can I go to your room and borrow your computer for a moment? My iPhone is out of battery.” Emerald said as they walked, “I want to ask the elder to send me some cloths.”

“I want to go too!” Rocort added.

“Sure, come along.” His dorm room was vacant anyways, it would be better if people came and livened up the atmosphere. “What do you want cloths for?”

Emerald smirked. “For wrapping. Using the cloth that the elf elder has maintained for many years to wrap soulstones feels more credible, doesn’t it!”

“Cloth that the elder has maintained?” Seems pretty powerful, wonder how it’s used! “Isn’t that very precious?”

“No, it’s just a towel he used to wash his back. That old guy is used to being frugal, unable to bear tossing away old things. After three thousand years, he’s already accumulated hundreds of them.”

“You rotten shark!”

Fu Xing walked up to his room’s door and put down his backpack to search for his key.

“Why not ask your roommate to open the door?”

“My roommate appears and disappears suddenly like a ghost. I still haven’t seen him yet.” Fu Xing helplessly said, “I’m alone every day, it’s very boring.”

“Who is Fu Xing’s roommate?”

“Don’t know.” He inserted the key and twisted the handle to push open the door. “Hopefully it’s someone easy to get along with—ah!”

The instant the door was opened, Fu Xing was dumbstruck.

The inside of the room was brightly lit. There was already a person sitting with an elegant posture in the gorgeous living room, reading a book. When the door opened, he looked towards Fu Xing and the others.

Rocort recognised him and immediately smiled as he said, “Oh, it’s Leon. Good evening.”

Leon did not respond at all, simply staring at the three people in the doorway with cold eyes, his expression identical to what it had been during class—

Leon Sagveiss, darkblood. The black-haired male that Fu Xing had offended in class.
