Chapter 6:  You think you can run away after offending the abbot?

The youth easily passed through the crowd, the World Sanctification Court’s members retreating to open up a path for him as he slowly walked to the centre of the hall. The scene was just like Moses and the Red Sea.

He left blood-coloured footprints on the floor behind him.

Fu Xing felt a strong wave of deja vu at the sight of the uninvited guest, but it was not the same feeling he had towards Zephon or Elijah. Rather, it felt more similar to how he regarded his friends in Shalom, like Leon. As though this youth had been a part of his daily life in the past two years as well.

“Master Elijah…?” Fidel’s gaze shifted back and forth between the youth and Elijah in confusion and unease.

The youth reached Countess Lee and stared at the blank-faced Fu Xing hanging over her shoulder. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he shook his head and gently said, “It’s time to go, Fu Xing.”

“Who are you?” Do I know this person?

“It’s me.” The youth’s tone emphasized as if reminding him and commanding him at the same time. “You know me, remember?”

A heavy dizziness swept through his head as the spell sealing his consciousness was lifted. It was an extremely discomforting feeling, like layers of his brain were being peeled away. However, his thoughts simultaneously grew lighter and clearer.

Fu Xing massaged his aching temples as he identified the person before him. “You…ny…”

His suppressed memories began to flow freely, the many happy moments under that tree in Shalom appearing one after another. Naturally, the mind control spell that had been used to hypontise him and conceal the suspicious points of Youny’s existence dissipated as well.

Rather than feeling delighted to see this familiar “casual friend” appear, Fu Xing instead felt as shocked as though he had just woken from a dream.

The World Sanctification Court members that patrolled outside began to stir slightly. Low mutters containing terrifying information spread quietly like spiders crawling on the ground. The confusion in the air changed into fear as everyone held their breaths, afraid to move like lambs awaiting slaughter.

The reports from above were conveyed through the hoarse, pained cries of the survivors. Every person present realised at that moment whose blood was beneath this youth’s feet.

“What…do you want to do?” Fu Xing hesitantly asked.

“Bring you back.”

“Back to Shalom?” Fu Xing’s eyes lit up.

“Yes.” Youny smiled brightly. “Back to destroy it.”

To destroy the cage that had chained his body down, so that he could be completely free.

Fu Xing’s expression immediately froze, unsure how to react.

“You’re with Elijah?” Youny was a spy from World Sanctification Court that had been sent to destroy Shalom?

“Elijah?” Youny raised a brow as he followed Fu Xing’s line of sight to see the person with a similar appearance to him, and he was slightly taken aback. “…You’re…?”

“It’s been a long time.” With a melancholic expression, Elijah coldly said with hints of regret in his tone, “The North Walker.”

He recognised Youny.

The instant the youth had appeared, Elijah’s soul had begun to stir, causing the history buried deep within the swamp of memories to float to the surface.

That was the past from before he had become the Patriarch, before he had reincarnated as a human.

Youny stood still as he carefully scrutinised Elijah, assessing his soul. Then, he understood.

“You are the South Walker.”

The other one of his kind – the only one – as well the instigator of the first time his freedom had been seized from him.

“I thought you returned to nothingness, but it seems you just abandoned your physical form.” Youny sneered, “I never imagined you would choose to be born as a lowly human. Your sacrifice to shackle me was not small indeed.”

“And to escape from your shackles, all that remains of you is your soul.” Elijah rebutted, “Without even a physical form to reincarnate into, your lowly soul will crumble into dust.”

At the end of ancient times, the North Walker had believed that the humans leading civilisation were the cause of disease contaminating the world, and thus planned to eradicate humanity. That would allow the weaker minority, the special animate beings, to become the leaders in driving the world’s development. When his sole companion made this decision, he had immediately chosen to walk the opposite path. Hence, he, the Souther Walker, had chosen to stand with the humans without looking back.

“Cut the egoistic act. The seal you created three hundred years ago was already destroyed by me.” Youny scoffed in disdain, “It’s a pity that not long after, I was shut into a new cage by a woman who thought herself as so clever.”

Youny’s words triggered a flash of realisation in Fu Xing. Does that mean Youny is the sealed eudemon that Samukawa spoke of?

“What a pity indeed.” Elijah snorted as he responded with a calculating smirk, “You should have obediently stayed inside the cage.”

He held out his palms and summoned pure blue light that dripped onto the ground, instantly spreading across the entire space and leaving the floor, walls, and ceiling densely covered in runes—sacred text from the beginning of ancient times that humans had never perceived before.

The divine power condensed from the depths of his own soul transformed the entire World Sanctification Court into a net. While his strength was nowhere near where it had been in the past, it was more than enough to be a threat to Youny’s semi-physical state.

Youny’s brow furrowed, though he immediately snapped out of it and returned to a laid-back smile. With a snap of his fingers, he corrupted the spell creating the net on the floor so that the runes that had originally been set to affect only abnormal beings would affect humans as well. The members of World Sanctification Court began to scream as they collapsed on the ground, groaning in pain.

Elijah’s heart stuttered in horror and he hurriedly dispelled the magic. Youny took advantage of that opening to break through the space, creating a path of light that connected to the outside. He then grabbed Fu Xing and spun around to leap into the space rift.

The path of light closed off, then vanished, the two figures disappearing with it. There were no traces of them left behind, as though they had never appeared in the first place.

The hall returned to silence. After their pain faded, the people shakily stood back up, dazedly staring at Elijah in unease.

“Master Elijah, who was that just now?” Fidel voiced out everyone’s inner question.

Elijah’s expression was dark. Youny’s appearance left him with an irritated restlessness that he had never felt before. “A past enemy.” Or perhaps I should say a past friend, a past brother.

“He’s a Yin beast?” Fidel boldly asked, “Why does he look so similar to yourself, Master Elijah?”

Elijah shot Fidel a cold look. “The Supreme God bestowed us freedom and independent consciousness, and there are always souls drawn to darkness. Even souls possessing extraordinary divine power are no different from the corrupted Yin beasts when they fall. They are all enemies.”

“Understood.”

“The hunting apparatus is about to reach completion. It can be properly activated in two days.” Elijah clearly declared, “When that time comes, it will be when the final war begins, the day the world is sanctified.”

The morale of the World Sanctification Court members were boosted by these words, and they began to cheer for the eradication of the enemy.

“We will be entering the preparation state for war. The general commands will be your responsibility.” Elijah’s forehead was beaded with cold sweat, the excessive consumption of energy just now taking a toll on his body. “Before the war begins, I will be in seclusion in the sacred hall and pray for the holy war.”

Fidel respectfully received the order and watched Elijah leave.

Elijah turned to return to his personal sacred hall. The snow-white space had tall ceilings and a raised platform in the centre like an altar. Elijah sat on the steps next to the platform as he gazed around at the space that he had stayed in for the past forty years. Forty years had passed since he had been brought here by the World Sanctification Court at six years old, and he was bound to dedicate himself to this place until his last breath.

Although he had a youthful appearance because of a eudemon’s spiritual power slowing the aging process, it could not keep his heart forever energetic. Despite having powerful abilities, his soul was not necessarily as sturdy as his physical form. All life beings were the same in that respect — humans, Yin beasts, and eudemons alike.

He couldn’t help but bitterly smile in self-mocking as he thought of Youny.

They were both trapped beasts, fettered to different places. A physical cage and a metaphorical cage constrained them respectively.

After so many years and so many reincarnations, his soul had felt parched and exhausted as the eternal solitude eroded him bit by bit.

He was afraid to admit it, but when the North Walker had appeared, his heart had actually felt innate excitement and joy.

It’s time for it to end. His calling was to send the North Walker back to its cage—No, to completely destroy him.

Even if it exhausted all his soul’s divine power, even if he had to die to take the other down with him, he had to do it.

Even if it ends in mutual destruction…

Hah, for some reason, I’m starting to look forward to it…

A good portion of the walls in the headmaster’s office were damaged now, leaving only piles of broken remains littered across the floor. The night wind flowed into the ruined space, forcing everyone present to face the unbearable reality.

“Who was that?” Brad was dumbfounded as he stared at the office that looked like it had been blown up with a bomb. It was impossible to not be awed by the uninvited visitor’s strength. “Although he wore a uniform, I assume he isn’t a student.”

Sanbi did not reply, instead walking to the edge of the wall to gaze out at the endless night sky.

“That was the beast of axioms.” Samukawa explained in Sanbi’s place, “The eudemon sealed in the academy. He has many names, and was referred to as a qilin, unicorn, or Bai Ze at various points in time by different cultures.”

“What?”

“The beast of axioms was sealed in this place over three centuries ago. This space is not only an academy, but also a ward to seal the eudemon.”

“I have to say, this ward seems a bit flimsy,” Flora dryly mocked.

“Plus I’m certain this wasn’t mentioned in the information for school admissions!” Dan Juan was somewhat annoyed.

“So?” Samukawa asked in exasperation, frowning impatiently. “Are you going to report us to the Consumers’ Foundation?”

“Why did the beast of axioms show itself here?” Leon cut straight to the important part. “Why choose this time to appear? What does he mean by reform the world? And—”

He paused for a moment, jaw clenched as he then continued, “He called us trash because we let Fu Xing get abducted?” What is that guy’s relation with Fu Xing?

“I don’t know,” Sanbi suddenly broke his silence.

“You don’t know?!”

“We’ve never been able to comprehend the eudemon’s thoughts, from ancient times up to now.” Sanbi turned, “We are only certain of two things: that he has returned, and that he will bring upon destruction. As for his connection with He Fu Xing and the World Sanctification Court, who knows.”

“In that case, who are you?” Momiji asked with a coquettish smile, though her tone was sharp. “Are you also some type of divine beast?” She was not at all happy with the fact that Sanbi was so ignorant in such a chaotic situation despite his status as a leader.

“Impudent!” Samukawa roared.

Sanbi remained unbothered as he began to explain.

“Since the beginning of civilization, when humans, non-humans, and gods lived in the same realm, my race has always taken on the role of officials and priests. After humans took control of the world’s development and led the growth of civilisation, most high-level gods chose to leave the material world, handing the stage to humans. Only the beast of axioms remained in this realm, roaming the world and indirectly purifying any filth, bringing axioms and hope to the humans.”

“Wouldn’t have guessed that at all.”

“The beast of axioms has always been the one my race has served, until the beast of axioms that differentiated good from evil began to deteriorate—”

“Simply put, the pet you were taking care of became disobedient, so you shut it up. And now he’s escaped from his cage to wreak havoc as revenge,” Flora flatly analysed. “So this is a personal grudge?”

“The deteriorating beast of axioms incited flames of war around the world, letting the humans slaughter each other—his intention was for his perceived source of filth to fight each other and bring ruin upon themselves. I do not believe that can be called a personal grudge,” Sanbi calmly stated.

“So what should we do now?” Zhu Yue timidly asked, “…What can we do now?”

Sanbi turned towards Zhu Yue with a placating smile. “The beast of axioms has not yet completely broken free from the seal. He will have to return, so we must increase our troops protecting the school. The academy will handle that.” Sanbi glanced at Flora, his smile twisting wryly, “After all, this is apparently a ‘personal grudge’.”

Flora awkwardly shifted her eyes away.

“At the moment, He Fu Xing is still in the hands of the World Sanctification Court, so you should still execute the rescue mission. That is entirely under your responsibility. The relation between the beast of axioms and He Fu Xing also requires your investigation. Shalom will provide any money and weapons you require, but we are unable to give you any people to support.” Sanbi bitterly smiled, “It’s quite shameful, but we have our hands full just dealing with the beast of axioms.”

Leon and the others responded with grateful expressions. “That is already enough.”

The students nodded respectfully at Sanbi and Samukawa before turning to leave.

Sanbi watched their backs disappear as he smiled faintly. “These children have matured quite a bit.”

“Mhm.”

“It hasn’t even been three years, less than one percent of their lifetimes, yet they have changed so much…” Sanbi quietly said in content, “Humans are truly amazing to have come up with the concept of ‘school’.”

“Mhm.”

“Hopefully this school for special animate beings can last for a long time. I hope that one day in the future, Shalom can recruit human students as well.” Sanbi heaved a long sigh, “And I hope that I will be able to witness that moment.”

Samukawa patted Sanbi on the shoulder. “You shouldn’t be saying any pointless demoralising stuff before we’ve even headed out to war! If you want to witness it, then work a bit harder to get past the crisis before us!”

Sanbi looked down at Samukawa’s hand, astonished by Samukawa’s words and actions. “You seem to have gotten more and more unrestrained.”

“The eudemon has escaped its cage, a student has been abducted, the enemy is before us. What kind of worse disaster would be worth worrying about?”

Upon leaving the headmaster’s office, Leon’s group split up, each contacting their own networks to gather resources to support. Approximately two hours later, they all returned to Class 3-C’s common room.

“The southern alliance is willing to use everything they have to rescue He Fu Xing and protect Shalom,” Isaac reported.

“The North America beastmen have expressed their willingness to support.” Brad said, “The clan leader is summoning comrades from other regions as well, so their numbers will only increase.”

“The aquatic clans from the southeastern Pacific Ocean will also participate, though it will take some time for them to arrive,” Zhu Yue reported.

“All of Shalom’s students, including their family, have declared their ability to support as well.” Flora and Momiji returned at the same time with an extra helper, Zi Ye, in tow.

“The entire school?” Dan Juan was surprised, “How did you manage that?”

“Seduction, bribery, threats, and intimidation,” Flora flippantly replied.

“What did you do, stupid spider spirit?” Momiji mocked,” Don’t tell me you were so scared that you shat silk in your pants and you had to go back and change?”

Dan Juan shot Momiji a glare. “I’m not as capable as you guys since I don’t have a massive network. I went to the library to look up some information.”

“Thanks for your hard work,” Momiji smiled. She knew that everyone’s backgrounds and circumstances were different, so they couldn’t assess everyone’s investments using the same standards.

Dan Juan continued, “The sealed beast of axioms in its current spiritual state allows it to utilise 70% of its power, but it is unstable, and can only be maintained for a day. Past a day, it would require possessing another body, which isn’t a long-term solution. That’s why it must return to destroy the seal in order to obtain complete freedom. We still have two days’ time.”

“Two days? Where did you get such a precise date from?”

“The Winter Solstice is two days from now. That is when night is longer than day, the turning point when the powers of light and dark ebb and rise. All special abilities, spells, witchcraft, and other supernatural powers in the world will be disrupted and affected by the magnetic field. This is also when Shalom’s space rift first displayed abnormality.

“That day is when the entire structure of the space will fall into a relatively weakened state as everything inside transforms, similar to molting a skin and creating a new self to develop. If this chance is missed, there’s no knowing when the next time such a situation will occur. And after this day, the space rift will become sturdier and harder to break, hence why the beast of axioms must return before then.”

Dan Juan paused for a brief moment. “So aside from preparing to face the beast of axiom’s power, we must find races that are adept at controlling elements and wards to come and stabilise this space.”

Dan Juan finally finished speaking. Everyone stared at him in astonishment and respect.

“Where did you find this information?” Momiji was very curious, “How do you know the beast of axioms’ current state?”

Dan Juan clicked his tongue as he shook his head. “Didn’t Headmaster Sanbi mention it earlier? He said to the beast of axioms ‘You have not changed either, even if you are only in a spiritual form’. Were you not paying attention to what others were saying?”

“You managed to look so much up just from that one sentence?” Even if she did remember Sanbi’s words, she couldn’t have made the same connections. “You’re pretty cool after all.”

“You should see his class notes, they’re literally transcripts.” Emerald was not surprised at all.

“It’s not hard to remember one or two sentences. The real challenge is the means of gathering information.” Dan Juan immediately turned smug after one or two compliments. “All this knowledge is recorded in ancient handwritten texts, which are extremely classified documents. As a result, they’ve all been hidden in the library’s forbidden books section. Naturally, a typical student would not be able to enter and read books there — even instructors would have some difficulty borrowing those texts. However, since I’m Shalom’s first ever special-grade platinum library user, I could easily—”

His next words were cut off by Momiji as she lightly pressed a long finger against Dan Juan’s lips, preventing him from continuing his narcissistic rant.

“That’s enough, if you go on for any longer, it won’t be cool anymore.” Momiji’s smile was dazzling and charming as she said, “You’ve done very well, little spider.”

Dan Juan’s face immediately flushed red. He turned his head away to avoid Momiji’s finger.

“This is just research common knowledge. It’s no big deal…” He mumbled, “Also, don’t touch me.”

“You’ve learned how to act modest, huh.” Momiji’s eyes twinkled in amusement as she leaned towards Dan Juan to say in a low voice, “I’ll remember to touch you with my mouth next time.”

Dan Juan instantly jumped back as though badly startled, but he muttered angry complaints to himself about the words that only he had heard.

“If we’re talking about races that are adept at controlling the elements, that would be the elves.” Emerald casually commented, “If we can obtain troops from the elves, that would be even more beneficial. The Ascle clan that I’m from will be arriving to support, but our numbers are limited. The elves are currently being led by the Pellot clan, so only he can urge the various elf clans into action. I just asked Shilan to lobby Lancelot.”

“And?”

“Lancelot said he needed to assess the situation before deciding.” Emerald wrung his hands together, ashamed by his own race’s actions.

“What a piece of scum…”

“Oh, don’t worry about that.” Dan Juan suddenly chimed in, “He Fu Qing will handle it.”

“What?” Everyone was taken aback by the sudden mention of that name.

“He Fu Qing is Fu Xing’s older sister.”

“We all know she’s Fu Xing’s older sister,” Brad flatly shot back. “But what does she have to do with anything?”

“If Fu Xing’s in trouble, his sister ought to be informed, don’t you think?” Dan Juan shook his head, a matter-of-fact expression on his face. “I dropped by the medical centre on my way earlier and told her what happened.”

These words were like a wake-up call to the others.

Everyone had been so up in their own heads about their “grandiose” plans to rescue Fu Xing, and none of them had even thought of He Fu Qing — the other person that was just as concerned about Fu Xing’s safety.

Special animate beings were so used to being on their own. Once independent, they had to handle all their own issues alone. Similarly, they had to be fully responsible for their own actions. It was the same no matter if the other party was family or friends. Not asking about personal matters and not interfering with others’ decisions was the highest form of respect and recognition, even if there was an endless pit of worry in their hearts.

They had forgotten that such customs were not practiced in He Fu Xing’s family.

“I never would’ve imagined you to be so mindful,” Emerald praised.

“Please, they taught us this in Human Sociology and Friendly Relations class.” Dan Juan raised a brow in exasperation, “Volume 1, Chapter 7, Section 14-2: When a young child without self-autonomy gets lost, you must inform their guardian while displaying concern and providing comfort. How did you guys pass that six-credit course for three semesters?”

“Even though we learned it, I never imagined there would be a day when it was applicable.”

“Dan Juan really is amazing!” Zhu Yue looked at Dan Juan in admiration.

“It’s nothing.” Dan Juan was beyond pleased with himself as he added, “There’s a similar situation in Chapter 10, Section 6-7: If you see a victim of a major accident or illness, you must notify their family members.

“You didn’t need to mention that, you’ll jinx us,” Brad retorted with a foul expression.

“But what can He Fu Qing do? Even Shilan, who is from one of the five major clans, cannot convince Lancelot. As a jingguai with no backing, what influence does He Fu Qing have over Lancelot?”

“Oho, she can do plenty.” Dan Juan couldn’t help but smirk as he recalled the scene he had witnessed. “Plus, I don’t believe she plans on ‘convincing’ Lancelot.”

When he had explained the events that had transpired and the current situation to He Fu Qing, she had immediately grasped the important point.

“Sovereignty over the elves lies in Lancelot’s hands. That piece of shit lives up his own ass, he’d never voluntarily offer assistance.” He Fu Qing was expressionless, but her phrasing made it evident that she was on the verge of losing it.

“Er, yes.” Dan Juan tried his best to stay collected, so as not to be affected by He Fu Qing’s choice of words.

“Perfect. I’ve disliked him for a long time now. Persi!” He Fu Qing called out towards the direction of the medicine cabinet, and a small, orange figure instantly flew over.

“Go move all the medicine in Box #3 into a cooler box. Don’t leave a single one.”

Persi blinked in shock, but immediately flew back without a word.

“What are you planning to do?”

Fu Qing stood and removed her white doctor’s coat before gathering her belongings. “I’ll be teaching a little lesson to a certain young master that can’t socialise for his life to make him understand the basic principles of conduct.”

“The elves are no easy party to contest against.”

“Any living organism can become ill.” A cold and cruel smirk formed on He Fu Qing’s face. “How long can those so-called noble elves last when their bodies are covered in syphilis, gonorrhea, and blisters?”

Dan Juan gulped as he bowed at the waist to He Fu Qing as an expression of respect.

“He Fu Qing has already headed out. If she uses the teleportation room, she should be arriving at the Pellot main house soon.” Dan Juan glanced at his watch. “It shouldn’t be long before we receive news about Lancelot.”

“What a terrifying woman.” Brad mentally quaked in fright for his own brother.

Stay safe, Ryner. Don’t do anything stupid…

The others began to break out into discussion with each other. Only Leon remained silent.

He had absolutely nothing after cutting ties with the Sagveiss clan. He did not have the influence that Isaac or Zhu Yue had, nor did he have the intelligence that Dan Juan had. He lacked the connections Emerald had, and he did not have the skills to make things happen like Flora or Momiji.

It was his clan that had forced Fu Xing into this crisis, yet he did not have the ability to even atone by remedying the situation.

He hated this version of himself.

Suddenly, a wrapped muffin was held up to his face.

“Do you want to eat this? There’s chocolate filling inside.” Rocort had a bag in one hand, and another muffin in the other. He spoke with his mouth full, dark stains of chocolate around his lips.

Leon shook his head, but it dawned on him that Rocort was similarly unable to help out in the current situation. Yet Rocort appeared to be as happy and carefree as always. Leon suddenly felt admiration towards him.

“Leon, does your stomach hurt?” Rocort sincerely asked.

“No.” Leon furrowed his brows, not understanding where this conjecture had come from.

“I thought you deliberately sat far away because you were worried you would accidentally pass gas.” Rocort grinned as he took a seat next to Leon. “Cheer up. Your expression is as foul as rancid cheese right now. There’s no need to think too much.”

“I basically am no different from rancid cheese at the moment, not only useless but also ruining the atmosphere,” Leon muttered under his breath in frustration.

“You’re very important too, the right time just hasn’t come yet for you to demonstrate it.” Rocort matter-of-factly stated as he ate, “Just like me.”

What can you help with? Can you fight?

Leon pondered this to himself, but did not voice his thoughts out loud. Instead, he tactfully advised, “It’s fine even if you don’t go on the battlefield.”

“Hmph! Don’t underestimate me!” Rocort harrumphed in disagreement as he stuffed the last bite of muffin into his mouth and licked his fingers. He then pulled out another from a bag. “Rocort is pretty awesome, you know.”

“Is that so?” Leon was not convinced.

“Yep.” Rocort beamed proudly, “I can eat everything, including all of the enemy’s souls, just like before. Although evil souls taste terrible, that was all I could eat before. Desserts taste better though, they’re soft and sweet.”

Rocort held up the dark brown muffin in his hand. “Even though they’re both dark, the impenetrable black ones have a completely different taste. After eating them for millenia, I feel like my own soul has started to turn into that heavy, dark colour as well.”

Leon peered intently at Rocort. He was only now realising that this person was not as simple as their appearance seemed.

The beast of axioms had said to Rocort—

“There’s the blackness of the rivers in the netherworld…”

Leon reflexively raised his guard. “Who are you?”

“I’m Rocort!” Rocort’s expression was as foolish as always, his face scrunched up as though Leon had asked a very stupid question. “Leon, did you really eat rancid cheese? Why are you saying such weird things?”

Leon stared at Rocort, then snorted self-derisively at how ridiculous it was that he was guessing around and making a mountain out of a molehill.

Rocort continued confidently stating, “I’m Rocort, He Fu Xing’s friend.”

“Mn.”

“And you are too.” Rocort earnestly met Leon’s eyes. “Leon Sagveiss, you are He Fu Xing’s most important friend. And our most important comrade.”

Leon did not reply. He did not feel like he deserved such a position.

A tall and muscular figure strode over to them. Leon raised his head to see Brad standing there with crossed arms and an impatient expression.

“What are you crouching around here for? Samukawa already traced the location of Fu Xing’s ring. We’re heading out!”

Leon’s brow furrowed in astonishment by the fact that Brad had voluntarily come to call him.

He was hesitant to accept the invitation. After all, he was the reason He Fu Xing had ended up getting abducted.

“We became comrades because of Fu Xing. Even without him, we’re still comrades.” Emerald casually jabbed at Leon’s sore point, knowing exactly what Leon’s apprehension was.

“Just appearing here is already amazing. You threw away everything in order to stand here right now. Your sacrifice is far greater than any of ours.” Zhu Yue said with a smile, “So, there’s nothing you need to worry about.”

“Besides, without you, our combat strength will be halved.” Dan Juan stated the facts, “An extra person would spread out the risk of injury—Ah! What are you stomping my foot for?!”

“Don’t jinx us, or else the next thing that will be stomped is your scrotum.” Momiji smirked flirtatiously, “Or would you actually want that?”

“Disgusting! You’re so vulgar!” Dan Juan shouted as he lost his mind.

Momiji laughed aloud as usual.

Everyone looked composed, with no traces of anxiousness. However, each one of them knew very well that they were all trying their best to ignore the pressure of their critical situation.

They were about to face a war of life or death. There was no knowing if they would be able to bring back Fu Xing without a hitch, or how many of them could return safely at all.

Leon was silent, but underneath his indifferent face was a storm of complicated emotions.

“Are you done?” Brad impatiently pushed, “Are you feeling anemic or something? Do you need me to go to the girls baths to grab a few clean virgins for you to have a taste?”

“Did you all decide ahead of time to abandon your sense of shame together?!” Dan Juan furiously lashed out, his ears already corrupted by the torrent of filthy words.

“If you’ve finished barking, just shut up.” Leon stood, shooting a cold look at Brad before his lips turned upwards into a faint smile. “Let’s go.”
